Our History
Meats by Linz is a third generation family owned business. We have been servicing the Chicagoland area for over 40 years. Frederick Linz, grandson of Martin Linz is currently the Vice President and the driving force of our business today.
1961: Along with his two brothers, Martin Linz opens Linz Brothers Meat Market, A retail market. Robert Linz joins the company part time.
1967: Robert comes to work full time. Along with the local retail business he starts a small wholesale business selling to local restaurants.
1982: Robert Linz introduces his son Fred to the business at the age of 14. Fred starts his career.
1983: Meats by Linz is granted USDA federal inspection. This began the venture into high-end portion control meat processing for wholesale distribution to the Chicago area fine dining market.
1990: Major renovation and construction of 439 Burnham facility takes place.
1994: Frank Luna comes on board as Sales Manager.
1995: John Majchrowicz is hired as Director of Operations.
2000: Fred Linz brings on new ideas and assumes full responsibility for day to day operations. Robert Linz semi-retires.
2002: Meats by Linz experiences explosive growth. We move aggressively into new markets while continuing to effectively service our current customer base as their needs continue to grow.
2003: In spring of 2003 our growth. Our new distribution facility opens in Dallas, TX.
2004: In November of 2004, we move in to our new state of the art facility at 414 State Street in Calumet City, just 18 miles south of downtown Chicago.
2006: In November, ground is broken on a major addition to our freezer which triples our capacity for frozen product storage. Meats by Linz welcome the knowledgeable Richard Parenti to our staff of professionals.
2007: Due to the increasing demand for our products, Meats by Linz expands significantly. In November, we completed our brand new, state of the art cooler facility.
2007: Meats by Linz establishes distribution in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
2008: Frank Huizenga joins our staff as Director of Operations, bringing with him 30 years of experience in the meat industry.
2009: Bruce Schlund is named Regional Sales Manager for the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean.
