The American Made Story
October 16, 2026
At Meats by Linz, the pursuit of exceptional beef has always extended beyond the plate. It’s a commitment rooted in the belief that quality and consistency begin long before a steak reaches the hands of a chef.
As the increasing demand for high-quality Angus beef continued to grow, President and CEO Fred Linz recognized the challenge of supplying some of the nation’s finest steakhouses required more than solely sourcing premium products. It meant gaining a deeper understanding of the genetics, breeding decisions, and practices responsible for producing them.
With that vision in mind, Fred took an ambitious step by establishing his own herd of registered Angus cattle. What began as an effort to strengthen the quality and consistency of the beef supplied to restaurant partners became the foundation of the Linz Heritage Angus program.
A Partnership That Changed the Conversation
Linz Heritage Angus was built not only on a commitment to superior genetics, but also on the belief that meaningful partnerships could strengthen the connection between those raising cattle and those serving the final product.
That philosophy led to a unique collaboration between Meats by Linz and two renowned steakhouses: Manny’s in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together, they partnered in the purchase of RB American Made 197, a bull that would help bring the Linz Heritage Angus Genetically Verified concept to life. This created an opportunity for American Made’s offspring to eventually be served to these restaurant’s customers.
While American Made helped establish the genetically verified concept, the vision for Linz Heritage Angus has always reached beyond a single bull or bloodline. Building a herd capable of consistently producing premium Angus beef requires intentional decisions and a commitment to improving with every generation. Over the years, Linz Heritage Angus has developed relationships with some of the industry’s most knowledgeable breed experts and dedicated producers, working together to advance the genetics behind the program.
Through careful selection, genetic evaluation, and a focus on the traits that matter most, the program continues to strengthen its foundation with each new calf crop. These advancements are about more than producing exceptional cattle. They’re about creating greater predictability and consistency for the restaurant partners who depend on Meats by Linz to deliver a premium product.
Because while American Made helped shape the genetically verified vision, the story has always been about something bigger: the people, the partnerships, and the pursuit of better genetics that continue to move Linz Heritage Angus forward.
