To deliver the consistent, high-quality meat our partners expect, we knew we had to control our supply from the very beginning. That is why the Linz family started Linz Heritage Angus in 2012, beginning with our first bull, American Made. By overseeing every step of the process, from breeding decisions to feedlot management, we can ensure that every animal meets the highest standards year after year. 

It Is in the Genetics 

Black Angus is known for its marbling, tenderness, and flavor, but not all Angus are created equal. At Linz Heritage Angus, we focus first on phenotype, the physical traits we see in the pasture, and then on genotype, the genetic makeup that drives consistent performance. This dual approach ensures we are not just chasing numbers on paper, but raising animals we can be proud of. 

From Ranch to Feedlot 

Our operations at Blue Branch Ranch in Byars, Oklahoma, span over 5,000 acres and house up to 800 mama cows and their calves. Here we raise the next generation of Black Angus with precision, using proven breeding practices such as AI and embryo transfer. 

From the ranch, our cattle move to the Timpas Feedlot in Rocky Ford, Colorado, where we track daily gains, consumption, and carcass performance. This level of oversight allows us to continually refine our program and produce cattle that deliver the most sought-after traits for chefs and meat buyers alike. 

Verified Genetics, Reliable Results 

By focusing solely on Black Angus, we can maintain a herd of verified genetics that consistently delivers high-performance cattle. Our replacement females and donor bulls are carefully selected to improve each year’s calf crop, ensuring that every steak has the quality, flavor, and marbling our customers expect.
